Glorious Fools
David H. Keith Some say Paramedics and other public safety workers are fools for doing what they do: rush into places sane people are trying their best to get out of. They may be right. They often owe their lives to these fools. This is a story about one of those glorious fools. It’s a work of fiction, but the people represented are based on those who are all too real, both the rescuers and the victims. Davaidh and Annie are regulars at the Painted Door. Well, Davaidh is; Annie not so much although she, too, is part of the Door's "family." Their lives and the lives of the rest of the Door's patrons will be changed forever by Davaidh, but they prove that they, too, are a real family. Tales from The Painted Door II: Wallace
David H. Keith An old man, a semi-regular at the Door, walks in one quiet Thursday evening and begins drinking his usual beverage. Normally, he’d just drink quietly by himself, pay, and leave. Not this night. This night he opens his heart to Chris, Oly, Mike, Howie, and Benny. He reveals to them at least part of the reason he is what he is. Does it free him from his ghosts or does it just bring him a moment of peace? Does it really matter? This is the second in a planned series of stories from The Painted Door, a fictitious neighborhood bar in Wichita, Kansas, although the location is not important. The human drama is universal, as are the characters. To purchase this book: Smashwords: https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/286989 Amazon Kindle: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BHKF7IM |

Two Dozen Visions
David H. Keith In this small collection of poems, arranged as an orchestral symphony, David H. Keith explores love and general observations of the human condition. He even adds a chuckle or two as a bit of respite between these two larger themes. His poems are mostly “nontraditional” in that they are unrhymed and each carries its own rhythm rather than being forced into sonnet or lyric or ode. He does make one exception: an Italian form known as a sestina. He challenges the reader to recognize which of his poems it is.
